What is the Strategic Commissioning Plan and why are you seeking views on it?
The Strategic Commissioning Plan 2019 – 2022 will set out the key priorities in the ongoing development of health and social care services in South Lanarkshire over the next three years and beyond. The Plan is extremely important as it will focus on the support that the Health & Social Care Partnership (H&SCP) can provide to people in local communities to assist them to maximise their health and wellbeing.  Listening to the views of a range of stakeholders, therefore, is crucial to shaping this plan.

What is Strategic Commissioning?
Strategic commissioning is the term used for all the activities involved in assessing and forecasting needs, linking investment to agreed outcomes, considering options, planning the nature, range and quality of future services and working in partnership to put these in place. The importance of effective strategic commissioning for the success of integrated health and social care provision cannot be over-stated. The plan will be the blueprint which South Lanarkshire H&SCP will follow to inform the significant resources we invest in health and social care provision to deliver better care for people.

How do I get involved?
In the spirit of our vision, Working together to improve health and wellbeing in the community – with the community, we are committed to listening and engaging with people throughout South Lanarkshire to help review our existing priorities and identify any emerging needs. We have already hosted targeted stakeholder events. Our primary mechanism for seeking the wider views of stakeholders and the public is a digital online survey.

This survey focuses on the following themes:

• What’s working well
• Where the challenges are
• What you see the priorities for health and social care delivery are in your local area.

The survey is open until Friday, 30 November.

What if I can’t access the online survey?
Call us on 01698 453700. We will arrange for paper copies to be sent to you with a freepost return envelope.

What will the partnership do with the results of this survey?
We  will collate all the information from the survey to shape and inform the next Strategic Commissioning Plan. We will announce the main findings of the survey in December, coinciding with follow-up targeted stakeholder events, before the partnership begins the process of setting out the Strategic Commissioning Plan for 2019 – 2022.
